BIOGRAPHY
BARBORA BÁLKOVÁ (*1978) is a successful photographer and painter from České Budějovice. She studied visual communications at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague under Jiří David and Veronika Bromová. Fancy Handkerchiefs, Masks, Magazines, Suicides and New Space are among her most well-known works. She has also made ironic statements on the depiction and objectification of women on magazine covers. She enjoyed her greatest success with Fruit (a study of the similarities between fruit and the human body), which earned her the prestigious Essl Award.
