Barbora Bálková

Barbora Bálková was born in České Budějovice, Czech Republic. After grammar school Bálková studied Art Teaching at the Pedagogical Faculty of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice. From 2000 she studied at the Academy of Fine Arts (AVU) in Prague, first at School of Visual Communication of Jiří David, and from 2001 till 2006 at School of New Media of Veronika Bromová. She graduated from AVU in 2006. In January 2004, together with two of her colleagues – painter Radka Valentíková and sculptor Kateřina Kociánová – Bálková co-founded art group called BaRaKa. This trio of artists makes their collective exhibitions and inspires each other. Barbora Bálková has already had 16 solo exhibitions and has participated in more than 40 collective exhibitions. In her art work, Bálková devotes herself mainly to photography and oil painting. Very often she also works with the New Media.
